The following board and committee leaders generously volunteered their time to lead and manage NorCal BMA. We thank them for their dedication and service to enriching the professional lives of business-to-business marketers.
Chris Blohm, VP of Memberships and Professional Development
Chris has been in the data and direct marketing space for over 20 years, and an employee of MeritDirect since its inception in 2000. He typically works with one foot in the marketing area and the other in sales, and has led the charge for increased use of technology, including both Salesforce and Marketo adoption and implementation, and website redevelopment. As the data world has changed, he has quickly pivoted to new ways of selling and developing products to meet the needs of the modern day marketer.
Deirdre Blohm, Director of Events
Dee Blohm joined MeritDirect in August of 2001 as Vice President of our Customer Acquisition & Retention. Dee and her team are dedicated to a diverse account base in U.S., Canada and EMEA. Global client base includes Access Intelligence, GE Capital, Microsoft, PURE Storage and Recognition Media. Dee is primarily engaged in database marketing, results analysis, CRM hygiene, media research for social, email and multi-channel customer acquisition efforts, establishing brand and generating return on marketing spend.
In addition to her client service role, Dee is also actively involved in the marketing for her biggest client: MeritDirect. She is engaged in corporate marketing, event planning and management, as well as other marketing operations responsibilities.
Nancy Chou, VP, Finance
After serving one term as NorCal BMA’s Director of Social Media, followed by two years as the President, Nancy will serve as our chapter’s Immediate Past President and VP of Finance. In 2012-2013, as President, she led the NorCal chapter to win national BMA’s award for large chapter growth. In 2013-2014, she successfully reunited marketing luminaries, key chapter members, leaders and board members from the last four decades to celebrate NorCal’s 75th anniversary.
Nancy serves as an advisor to several startups and is the principal of Nancy Chou Marketing Consultants, a strategic marketing consultancy to B2B and B2C clients in startups and F500 companies. She is a Certified Social Media Strategist by the Social Media Academy and has earned a Course Completion Certificate for Digital Analytics Fundamentals, Google Analytics Platform Principles, and Ecommerce Analytics: From Data to Decisions. Nancy received her MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and is a former marketing instructor at the Stanford Continuing Studies Program.
Donata Makuta, Secretary
Donata Makuta has many years of international work experience working in High Tech in the Silicon Valley area, as well as having worked in Munich, Germany and Latin America. Her experience covers a wide range of areas including marketing, business development, sales, communications, sales operations and program management. She currently works at EMC as a Global Services Product Manager.
Wally Palmer, Director, Sponsorships & Partnerships
Palmer has over 20 years of experience in applied research, building and executing strategic research and marketing tools for clients targeting the consumer and B2B technology market. His background includes managing and conducting all types of quantitative primary research studies. Wally has also designed and published market research reports for several key IT market segments and is an expert in syndicated research. His considerable accomplishments include the creation of a “goldmine technology tool” that helps IT vendors more accurately identify important markets and potential hardware and software buyers. Before starting Palmer Research in 2002, Wally was Vice President of Research at the InfoWorld Media Group (an IDG company) and held senior level sales, marketing and research positions at CapCities-ABC. Wally is a graduate of Dartmouth College and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.
