NorCal BMA is proud to offer a brand new scholarship opportunity for students in the fields of advertising, marketing and communications, especially those interested in the field of B2B marketing.
With a generous endowment from the late George C. McNutt (1905-1992), the first President of NorCal BMA, we are able to offer this scholarship that will benefit up to two Bay Area students in 2017.
Each scholarship recipient will receive a monetary award of $1000 and a number of bonus non-cash awards with a combined value in excess of $15,000.
These awards are limited to students at one of three Bay Area universities: University of California, Berkeley, Notre de Namur University in Belmont, and San Jose State University. This limitation stems from the stipulations accompanying the endowment from Mr. McNutt.
Besides being a Crain Hall of Fame Winner, Mr. McNutt was a prolific author of over 180 business articles and a groundbreaking book, Business/Industrial Marketing and Communications: Key to More Productive Selling. NorCal BMA meant a great deal to Mr. McNutt and this endowment is his way of giving back to the profession and the region he cherished.
Ted Kohnen, current President of NorCal BMA, is excited to launch this scholarhip program: “Launching the George C. McNutt Scholarship Fund is one of the NorCal BMA’s strategic initiatives this year. Mr. McNutt’s endowment allows us to inspire students--with a marketing emphasis at three select Bay Area universities--to complete an education in the field of marketing, advertising or communications. This furthers our mission of empowering the next generation of Silicon Valley marketers.”
